Getting a Taxi: The best way to get a Taxi in Medellin, is to call one (444-0000) from your hotel room or ask the front desk to call one for you. The dispacher with give you the taxi number and how many minutes for the cab to arrive. Write down the number and compare it to the taxi that arrives. Remember, some taxis listen on the open radio frequency and try to arrive before the real taxi arrives. Make sure you take the right taxi! Paying: Most locals do not tip taxi drivers nor do the drivers expect a tip. The only exception to this is if they help you with luggage or packages or provide extra service. Its always best to carry some small bills (1,000 & 2,000 peso bills) and change since some drivers have limited change to give you. |
